What is that about?! Worship

Why do we spend so much time in worship on a Sunday morning? Where’s the organ, the hymns and the song books?

Kings strives to be a church where people are eager and excited to gather together. Paul describes in Romans (8:15) how we are God’s children and as such how we have a natural desire to find and experience God’s love; this is a desire share with everyone at church.

Worship begins to arise when we hear the Word and respond to it. It is a response from the heart.

Worship is literally an act of love; it is our natural, knee-jerk response to the words we hear and the feelings of our heart. Therefore, as a response to our love for God and his undying love for us, I reckon worship should be a pretty exciting thing. It should be full of passion and joy, a celebration and a way of speaking to God.

Often people dance, sing, jump or laugh when they’re happy, get exciting news or are generally having fun! When we worship God it should be an awesome experience- He is our creator, our Father and He loves us.

At King’s we worship God freely, with songs, prayers and spiritual gifts. We enthusiastically worship God with a genuine freedom, gained through Christ (Gal 5:1).

Again, this may have thrown up more questions, but hopefully it will have also provided some answers!! I get so excited about worshiping God on a Sunday morning… I hope you share in this love and can experience the same excitement too!

Jenny
